Home Roof Replacement FAQs

1. Can you just put the new roof over my old shingles to save me money?

While some local codes allow a "roof over," we strongly advise against it. Leaving the old roof prevents us from inspecting the wood decking underneath for rot, adds excessive weight to your home's structure, and voids the manufacturer's warranty on the new shingles. We believe in doing the job right with a full tear-off.

2. Do you install a full roofing system, or just nail up new shingles?

The most common visual signs of failure are shingles that are curling at the edges, cracked, or actively losing their protective ceramic granules. You might also notice dark black streaks, which is actually an algae eating away at the shingle's core. Most importantly, if you are seeing brown water stains on your interior ceilings, moisture has already breached the structural decking, and it is time for our veteran-led crew to perform an honest, evidence-based inspection.

3. What are the signs that I need a new roof?

We install a comprehensive, manufacturer-engineered roofing system. This includes synthetic underlayment, ice and water barriers in vulnerable valleys, proper starter strips to prevent wind blow-off, the primary architectural shingles, and adequate ridge ventilation to let your attic breathe efficiently.

4. Does a 20-year-old roof need to be replaced?

If your home has standard builder-grade asphalt shingles that were installed two decades ago, they have likely experienced some strong winds and scorching sun in our Georgia climate. While we will never pressure you into a full replacement, a 20-year-old roof is incredibly vulnerable to high winds, severe hail, and thermal cracking. We recommend letting us take a look so we can shoot you straight on its remaining lifespan.
